Member Spotlight - Mary Sarah

After losing her beloved bullmastiff Piper, Mary Sarah came to the ASPCA in 2009 looking to become a volunteer. Not ready to get another dog, Mary Sarah wanted to work with animals and found adoption counseling to be the best fit and the ASPCA was the perfect place! A New Yorker since 1994, Mary Sarah always wanted to run the NYC marathon but never found the right time to run - until now! Joining Team ASPCA in June, Mary Sarah quickly rose to the top of the pack and was named Top Fundraiser for the ING New York City Marathon. Now on her way training for her second Team ASPCA race, Mary Sarah is doing something she never dreamed possible.

Throughout this process, Mary Sarah has made lifelong friendships with two-legged, three-legged, and four-legged creatures alike. At the same time, she is making a positive impact in the lives of animals living in New York by bringing in additional resources for the wonderful and big-hearted animals at the ASPCA. Mary Sarah is a true animal hero!
