Hi friends!!
I am SO excited to be running as part of Team ASPCA at the Los Angeles Rock and Roll Half Marathon on October 27, 2013! This is something I have been interested in doing for the last two years, and I am so excited to be a member of Team ASPCA to raise awareness and funding to support the ASPCA's programs.

From now through October, I plan to have a variety of fundraising opportunities! All donations will help the ASPCA and continue to provide local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pets and pet parents, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals and serving victims of animal cruelty. As many of you know, animals are my passion, and I appreciate your help as we fight to end animal cruelty, homelessness and neglect.

So why the APSCA? Why this cause? We were lucky enough to adopt four shelter companions and give them a "forever home", and I believe raising money for this cause will help more animals receive the humane treatment they deserve.

Although I have been interested in being part of Team ASPCA for sometime, it was a recent event that really made me realize how close to my heart this cause lies. About a year ago we found out that we had limited time with one of our dogs because her heart. We had adopted her from a shelter about 9 years ago, but just recently, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. During one of the many visits to the vet, they did an x-ray on her to check for fluid in her lungs. Luckily, her lungs turned out to be clear, but the words that followed the good news shattered my heart into pieces.

"Did you know she has a BB pellet in her?" said the vet.

Tears flooded my eyes as my brain began to process what the vet was trying to say. I just could not believe how someone could treat the companion I love so much, the best friend I whose life I was fighting to save, in such a violent way to shoot her, even if it was just with a BB gun. She has always been such a loyal dog, giving nothing less than her heart. She never deserved to be shot. And that's just it. No animal deserves to be treated with such cruelty. This is why being part of Team ASPCA has taken on a new meaning for me.

I realize economic times are still rough, but I am asking from the bottom of my heart, to please support me by making a donation to a cause that is so close to my heart. Even the smallest donations will make a positive impact in the lives of animals. I have been asked to raise $950, but I am shooting for the stars and have increased my goal to reflect raising $100 for each of the 13.1 miles I will run at the half marathon. In order to get there, I will need your help!

Thank You so very much for your generosity and support!
